Batticaloa

The coastal district of Batticaloa in the eastern province of Sri Lanka is surrounded by beautiful lagoons. Batticaloa, known as the land of the singing fish is famous for its sandy beaches, beautiful lagoons and rich mixed culture. With its famous beaches like the sparkling blue Passikudah and Kalkudah beach the two golden beaches in Sri Lanka, natural surroundings and popular architectural temples and forts Batticaloa has become a popular tourist destination.  The view from the famous Kallady Bridge looks out into the lagoon, the Old Dutch fort and St.Sebastian church, a sight worth seeing. Batticaloa lighthouses, Maamangam Hindu Temple, Unnichchai tank, Sri Mangalarama Temple, Lagoon Park are the other places of attraction.
