Racing the Planet- Sri Lanka

Set to begin on 14th February 2016, Racing The Planet: Sri Lanka is the location for the ninth edition of the Roving Race – a 250 kilometer / 155 mile, 6-stage, 7-day endurance foot race in one of the most stunning and culturally rich locations on the planet. Competitors will traverse a great variety of terrain, scenery and landscapes. The course starts from the highlands of Sri Lanka (a mere 1700 meters / 5600 feet) and takes you through tea plantations , cooling pine forests and hill stations with views of some of the highest peaks in Sri Lanka and passing the highest waterfall (300 meters). The course takes in local villages, temples, past and present and into the Yala National Park (with elephants, water buffalo, deer, wild boars and sloth bears!) and then down to the beach on the Indian Ocean. The route is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in Sri Lanka and takes you through areas that have never been seen by tourists.
