Sri Lanka celebrates 68th Independence Day
The main Independence Day celebration was held at the Galle Face Green in Colombo. The tri-forces guard of honour and procession in the main ceremony was held under the patronage of the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Hon Maithripala Sirisena. Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was also present at the ceremony.
Sri Lanka gained independence from the British colonial rule in 1948.
