Muthurajawela

Muthurajawela is a marshland in the southern region of the Nebombo lagoon It is the island's largest moss wet spongy ground, and is renowned  for its rare and really distinct ecosystem. It was declared as a sanctuary due to its extensive bio-diversity. The marsh is a dominant local and tourist attraction with sightseeing done via boating tours. The region supports distinct species of plants and animal life, as well as several other species of birds. Some of the identified species have been shown to be indigenous to the marsh.
