The Medirigiriya

The Medirigirya is located in the North Central Province .It stands alone on top of a small hill. The Buddhist structure at Medigiriya which is also known as Vatadage is considered to be the best in the country. However, due to being located in an isolated spot, it is unknown to many visitors. The circular building known as a Vatadage was constructed to house and protect the sacred relics of the Buddha, Ruins of an old hospital and a temple building have also been discovered close to the Vatadage.
