The haunting beauty and lifestyle in the small Island in Jaffna is an experience of a lifetime. A ferry ride from Kurikadduwan will take you to the Delft Island named by the Dutch colonials is also known as Neduntheevu by locals. The island is scattered with wild horses breeding from the stock maintained from Portuguese times. The colonial touch still remains in all the places giving the island a rustic mysterious atmosphere. The ruins of the Old Portuguese Fort built from corals look beautiful and the ancient Portuguese pigeon house still exists. The giant baobab tree, the ancient Dutch stables and the interesting foot print on the rock are places that cannot be missed in the beautiful Delft Island.

History & Culture
Early History Home to years of history, which stretched far and wide. Due to the characteristic weather, the earliest explorers completely bypassed the area. The first settlement in the area was founded 1770 as a mission community. In addition to the mission, a military fort was built.
