Habarana Elephant Back Safari

A tour of Sri Lanka must include an elephant back safari in Habarana. This would be a thrilling experience especially for the nature and wildlife enthusiast. Habarana is the place that is popular for the elephant safaris. It is transit point for large herds of wild elephants between the national parks in Minneriya and Kaudulla. The best period for elephant back safaris at Habarana is between March and July, the time when water level of the river in through which the elphants would wade through is high enough for part of the elephant to be submerged in water. Elephants used in the safari are well tamed and ride would be over roads, villages, jungles, swamps and rivers.
