The famous location for filming the award winning movie ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ by David Lean is the beautiful Kitulgala village in the Sabragamuwa Province. The picturesque location of the movie is open to all visitors to feast their eyes. Kitulagala is surrounded by forested hills that make way to the Kelani Ganga (river). A stretch of the river is the haven for those who love white water rafting. The 5 kilometers upstream is suitable for experienced white water rafting adventurers and the downstream suitable for beginners. Kitulgala is also a famous spot for jungle trekking, outdoor camping and bird watching.
Spread across a large area, this destination is nothing if not diverse. Choosing a single place to focus your time, that is a true challenge.
