The magnificent Lankathilaka Temple is situated in the kandy district, close to Gampola. It has been built on top of a large uneven rock with a history dating back to the 14th century. Inscriptions in both Sinhala and Tamil languages are found cut into the rock covering a large area of the temple, describing the king’s land gift and facilities provided to the Temple. Seeing the architecture surrounding and within the temple is a golden opportunity for budding architects. The historical value cannot be measured.
