Yapahuwa

Yapahuwa is located of the Wayamba province of Sri Lanka, between Anuradhapura and Kurunegala areas. It was capital of Sri Lanka for a brief period in the 13th century. It was built on a rock mountain similar to Sigiriya rock fortress. Several Chinese ceramics, coins and pottery pieces were found on excavation, which leads to believe that king had close ties with China. The intriguing history of the Yapahuwa rock is evident in the ruins lying in the premises. Due to being in an isolated side of the cultural triangle, visitors could observe the area undisturbed without  the usual tourist crowds. Cultural lovers should not miss seeing this place.
