Hambantota

Hambantota is the new hotspot in Sri Lanka, situated in the Hambantota district along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It has a dry climate and was a town that was badly hit by the 2004 tsunami. In recent times the Hambantota town has developed rapidly with an international harbor, airport and cricket stadium. There is plenty to see in Hambantota like the popular Bundala National Park, Kalamatiya bird sanctuary where bird watching can be done while taking a boat ride. The largest bird research center is also in Hambantota, with over 200 species of birds.
